Franklin County has a variety of public and private schools. The Franklin County Community School Corporation serves approximately 3,000 students. The district is mostly rural with Brookville being the county seat. Other towns within the county include Cedar Grove, Laurel, Metamora, and Mt. Carmel. Batesville school system serves our south west corner of the county.

Private Schools
In addition to public education, the county is home to private education for students. Private education is offered at two institutions: St. Michael’s School (K1-K8), Oldenburg Academy (K9-K12). All of these schools have a religious affiliation and accredited by the State.

Colleges & Universities
The Miami University-Oxford is an easy drive from Franklin County and is highly rated. Earlham College is another commuter school that has a lot to offer. The University of Cincinnati, one of the nation’s 20 largest public universities is 30 miles away. Purdue University, Ohio State, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and Indiana University are three world-class colleges all within a three hour drive. Many of our college graduates are looking for companies to locate in Franklin County so they can stay in this county closer to home.

Tech schools like Ivy-Tech are close by and offer various training classes for business and manufacturing.
